Adopted 2nd rabbit - original rabbit not using litter box anymore

Today we separated them in individual cages so we could clean the rabbit area. And I made sure Norm was out of sight of Lola. Not more than 1/2 hour of being in a clean cage with fresh litter she urinated right by her water dish. Made sure she had plenty of fresh hay right by her litter box...

Adopted 2nd rabbit - original rabbit not using litter box anymore

We have had our female spayed dwarf rabbit Lola for 9 years. She used to use her litter box 99% of the time. Recently we adopted a senior neutered male rabbit named Norm. They are about the same age. We have their areas right next to each other separated by a mesh door. The goal was to bond them...

Senior adopted rabbit chewing much of the time, not finishing salad, and pooping not normal

He ended up needing to go back to the vet that cut his teeth and they found a spur that was digging into his tongue:eek: Vet was surprised he was eating anything. We weren't. Norm loves food. He just had a dental a month before so that is why we were having trouble believing it was a dental...

Senior adopted rabbit chewing much of the time, not finishing salad, and pooping not normal

The vet did do an x-ray as well as the oral exam. He said the teeth were not perfect but that they did not need to be cut. Before we adopted him a vet prescribed Norm .4mg meloxicam a day for arthritis. Norm does not eat hay - never has. His vet records confirmed he has always been like that. We...

Senior adopted rabbit chewing much of the time, not finishing salad, and pooping not normal

We adopted a senior male rabbit, Norm, that has been having a few issues. For about two weeks he has been chewing most of the time, not eating much of his salad, and randomly has globed together poop (see attached image). I would say about 10% of the poop is globed together. Took him to the vet...

Newly adopted rabbit not eating hay - any tricks to getting him to eat more hay

We tried Orchard grass hay and the hay pellets from Tractor Supply. He did not really want either of them. Fecal balls look normal. He is going to the vet next week for a dental checkup. Will look into the Sherwood food.

Newly adopted rabbit not eating hay - any tricks to getting him to eat more hay

He was given to the shelter a few months ago along with another rabbit. They said the previous owner fed the rabbits mostly pellets. So he has teeth and weight issues. Our vet trimmed his teeth and gave an overall exam. He needs to go back in December for another checkup. He has a great...

Rabbit recovering from stasis - not eating pellets

Our dwarf rabbit had another bout with stasis. Took her to the vet. Vet dispensed 3 prescriptions and we have been giving them to her. Noticed that her pellet consumption is down. She is eating a normal amount of hay and veggies. She has been given Oxbow Essentials her entire life and this is...

Flooring recommendation for senior rabbit with arthritis

That is the issue. Lola found an edge of the yoga mat under her house and chewed it. Now all the edges are under the house. If I get one solid piece I can hide the edges under the wall shoe base and fence. But I think it needs to be one piece.

Sudden increased consumption of water and food

Good insight with the hay. We did recently have to change the brand of hay because she stopped eating the previous brand. We noticed the quality of the previous brand had gone down. Maybe due to the hay shortage. We were able to change her wellness checkup to yesterday. Vet said everything...

Sudden increased consumption of water and food

Our 8 year old Dwarf Rabbit Lola has suddenly started consuming more water and food. There is also increased urination and poop. Poop is normal sized. Activity seems increased as well. Over the years we noticed when she is shedding water consumption goes up, but not this much. However, she is...
