Hi all, I have got a bunny here who was mated nearly 3 weeks ago. Her nesting maternal instincts are a lot like her mothers (early nest building). However she is pulling fur already and still has just over 1 week to go till she kindles. I have never had or seen any of my bunnies do this. I do know she is pregnant as her nature and eating changed not long after she was mated, she has become heavier and her tummy area is bigger to the touch. I know early fur pulling can be a sign of false pregnancy, but also I have read that some bunnies do pull their fur early when they are pregnant (especially if their nesting maternal instincts are quite high). Which hers and her mothers both are, as they build nests basically as soon as they were mated (her mother was extremely nesty).

I'm just wanting peoples thoughts or if anyone else has experienced this with their bunnies.

I don't have experience with it myself, but have read of several other people experiencing it with their does. To me it sounded like it wasn't too unusual.

I have some that build nests early and others who wait until after they’ve kindled to pull fur. I’ll take the early nesters anytime.
